Open Question: Is Star Wars (the force) a cult?

My dad won’t let us watch the OLD Star Wars movies (because that’s ALL I care about) because he thinks that the force (god) is both good and evil, therefor it teaches that God is both good and evil, and that is the main THEME for most false religions in the world, do the OLD star wars movies teach that?
